Improve your grade with a better paper

In order to provide students with additional research and writing assistance during the second half of the semester when papers are due, the CSU Library and the Writing Center are offering the following workshops in the LCLC back lab on the first floor of the Library in Rhodes Tower:

In Memoriam

Preston White
Preston White

Preston H. White, coordinator of the Library Computer Learning Center, passed away unexpectedly on October 23. He was 45 years old.

Preston began his career at the University in 1983 as a student employee. In 1986 he began working as a Library Media Technical Assistant 1 in the Law Library. He then joined the University Library in 1992 as the Current Periodicals/Microforms Unit Coordinator.

He served the Library in various capacities over his 14-year career here. Most notably, he was integral in establishing and maintaining two cutting-edge labs in the Library--the Adaptive Technology Lab for students with disabilities and the Library Computer Learning Center for training students in computer software use.

Preston was known for his exemplary customer service and unwavering dedication to student learning.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CSU in June 1992 and his Master of Arts in History from CSU in December 2000.

Preston will be missed by library staff, family, and friends.

India Experience on Display at the Library

The India Experience, including authentic Indian artifacts and literature, is on display on the first floor of the Library through April.

The following India Experience lectures and field visits are free and open to the campus community (sponsored by the CSU Division of Institutional Diversity and India Scholar Program, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences).

India Experience: a Month Long (April) Celebration at Cleveland State University

Global Learning is an ongoing activity at Cleveland State University.
April is designated as India Experience Month.
Major highlights include:

India Experience display in LibraryApril 1 – April 30:
A month long Indian Experience exhibit on the first floor of the main library including books, artifacts, and photographs pertaining to Indian culture and CSU’s Study Abroad in India.

April 6
Healing Across Cultures: Learning from Traditions Day long Symposium lead by traditional healers including an expert from India and researchers of modern medicine.
Free registration and free lunch – Mather Mansion. To register, please call 216-687-4656.

April 15 – April 23
Indian Music Festival, Waetgen Auditorium, University Auditorium, and other locations on campus. Free program.

Other programs include:

  • A visit to Cleveland based Buddhist temple, Hindu temple, and an Indian family’s home for a free lunch.
  • Attend a yoga and meditation demonstration session, mendi (temporary hand tattoo) demonstration; learn to wear Indian dress (dhothi and saree), and attend a series of colloquiums on different aspects of Indian culture.

Institute for Scientific Information Citation Databases Unavailable 1-3 pm Sat. Aug. 26th

OhioLINK will be migrating accounts for the Institute for Scientific Information Citation Databases (also known as ISI Web of Science) and, as a result, the three databases involved will be unavailable to users between 1 and 3 pm on Saturday, August 26th.
